Head Coach and Programmer, Jonathan. He’s got nearly 25 years of weightlifting experience, 18 years of personal training and leading group exercise experience, and 14 years of CrossFit programming and coaching experience. Jonathan is a CrossFit, CrossFit Light and Team Strength and Conditioning Coach. Hey, everyone! I’m Jonathan and I was born in Georgia, but have spent most of my life in North Carolina. I started playing competitive sports in 4th grade. I started resistance training when I was 13 after realizing that becoming stronger would make me a better athlete.I’ve been resistance training for almost 25 years and through that time, I’ve also learned about and gone through endurance training programs for marathons, triathlons and relay races. I’ve also trained weightlifting and powerlifting cycles. I have spent time training alongside aesthetics athletes. I started CrossFit programming in 2006 and soon realized the great potential this style of training could have for the majority of people, if done correctly.Since 2001, I’ve been a personal trainer and group exercise instructor. I’ve also been a manager at Corporate Fitness Centers and Wellness Centers in hospital settings. Through my experience in varied exercise settings, I’ve programmed exercise for people with heart and/or pulmonary disease, college athletes and all fitness levels in between. The programs I provide for MCCF are backed by all of my experience, a degree in Exercise Physiology and a master’s degree in Biomechanics. CrossFit is redefining exercise and I am glad MCCF is part of the changing landscape Coach Kristen was also one of MCCF’s original members. With a degree in Health and Wellness Promotions and a background in personal training and leading group exercise, coaching CrossFit came naturally! Kristen is a CrossFit and CrossFit Light Coach.I grew up just outside of Winston-Salem and spent my youth playing piano, singing in vocal ensemble, playing in the band and participating in the color guard. I started working out for fun in high school (maybe I should have just played sports??) and once I went to college at UNC-Asheville I decided to pursue a degree in Health and Wellness Promotions. After college, I worked full time in the fitness industry for over 9 years as a Health Fitness Specialist, certified personal trainer, and group fitness instructor before moving to my current role with the American Heart Association. I started doing CrossFit in 2011 and was immediately hooked. After years of taking part as solely an athlete, I decided to add to my certification and get my CFL1 in 2014, and CFL2 in 2019. I’ve have had the immense pleasure of coaching the amazing members at MCCF since then and am grateful to be a part of this amazing community. Our next Coach intro is Rachael! She’s one of MCCF’s original members. She’s a CrossFit, CrossFit Light, and CrossFit Kids Coach.I grew up in Noarlunga, South Australia, but I’ve been in the United States now for some time so I have a very strange accent. I didn’t grow up playing any sports and sometimes I can’t walk in a straight line, so I’m constantly surprised by everything I’ve accomplished in CrossFit.I’ve been a CrossFit athlete since 2012 and decided to get my CFL1 in 2014 after encouragement from other coaches. I then went and got my CrossFit Kids certification in 2016, and my CFL2 in 2019. I’ve also participated in the Aerobic Capacity seminar and was certified as a USA Weightlifter Level 1 Coach.CrossFit has changed my life! It has brought me into a community I love and cherish and created a passion for spreading the importance of living a healthy and active lifestyle. I love coaching and seeing the progress our members make in their fitness, personal, and lifestyle goals! You gain more than just physical strength at MCCF. You gain mental strength and confidence, as well as a community and a family, that supports you! Maria coaches CrossFit and CrossFit Light and is also one of our Team Strength and Conditioning Coaches. I’m originally from Arkansas and lived there most of my life. I grew up with a brother and sister, but I’m the oldest, so I love being bossy. I’ve been married for almost 15 years and have two amazing sons. I found Crossfit in 2013 shortly before my dad passed away. Having a feeling of community from people I didn’t know well was everything I needed. Fast-forward to 2015 when my family and I moved to NC. I was lucky enough to find MCCF and felt like I fit right in. I recently got my CFL1 in 2019 and have been coaching at MCCF ever since. I am currently attending NCSU for my Bachelor’s in Applied Nutrition. I want to set a good example of health and fitness for my children. Being a coach has really given me the opportunity to help so many different types of people with their fitness goals. I honestly love it so much! There is nothing I would rather do! Melissa coaches CrossFit and CrossFit Light.I grew up in St. Louis, MO, and spent my youth doing entirely too many hobbies and sports. My main sports were swimming, volleyball, water polo, and German folk dance. Throughout earning my degrees in Environmental Engineering, I taught swim lessons at the community pool and led a yoga practice with the yoga club. After getting a professional job, I knew I needed to rediscover my fitness. My best friend dragged me to my first CrossFit class in 2018 and was not instantly sold on the idea. I stuck with it to workout with her but was completely hooked three months later. A year later I decided to get my CFL1 and started coaching a few months after that. I love fitness, breaking down movements, and interacting with our wonderful MCCF family. Will is a hard worker in and out of the gym. He’s currently working on a degree to help bring wellness and balance to our members and his clients! He comes to MCCF with a weightlifting background and is a CrossFit and CrossFit Light Coach. I am a graduate of NC State University, having obtained a BS in Biology, as well as a minor in biomanufacturing. In my spare time I began Crossfit training, and I immediately found my passion in helping others achieve their fitness goals and becoming better versions of themselves. I am CF-1 certified, an Eagle Scout, and currently working on a certification to become an Integrative Health Coach through Duke University. I currently work in Research Triangle Park as an analytical chemist, while also building a business around integrative health coaching. My main goals are to share my knowledge and fitness skills with the community, to create happiness and well-being, and to make and impact by improving lives all around. Lindsay is a nurse, a Strongwoman, a CrossFitter and our Redneck Unicorn! Lindsay is a CrossFit, CrossFit Light and Team Strength and Conditioning Coach. Hey guys! I’m Lindsay AKA Shaw from Bear Grass NC #population73. I have a background in Basketball, Volleyball, and softball. I started CrossFit back in 2014 in Greenville, NC. I started being competitive in 2016. I’m a Regional team competitor, 2x team Wodapalooza competitor, and competed at Nationals for Strongman corporation. While I’m not coaching or competing I work as Registered Nurse here in Raleigh. I love being able to help people get better in their fitness whether it’s for their health or for competing. Lauren is a CrossFit and CrossFit Light Coach and one of our Team Strength and Conditioning Coaches.Hey y’all, I’m Lauren! AKA La Chil or La Chi Chi. I was born and raised in Tennesse. I have lived in different cities in the southeast in Tennessee, Virginia, and North Carolina. I grew up with 3 siblings, all close in age, so the competition was a normal day at the park for me. I have always loved sports and I grew up playing softball, volleyball, soccer, and basketball. I went to Bridgewater College to play softball and double majored in Business Administration and Family and Consumer Sciences. After graduating, I moved back to Tennessee for a summer internship at an architectural firm. After an amazing summer working on large projects, I decided to go back to school in Durham at The Art Institute of Raleigh-Durham for Design. This is when I fell in love with the Triangle and have been living here ever since.I enjoy being outdoors, running, hiking, working out, eating sushi, and spending time with my family. My fur babies are my life. I have a Blue Heeler named Raleigh and a rescue cat named Flea.I have been doing Crossfit for 5 years now. I started coaching last year, and I have fallen in love with it. I love challenging myself physically, emotionally, spiritually, and intellectually. Crossfit helps hold me accountable to achieving these goals in all aspects of my life. As a coach, my goal to help encourage others to go after things they never thought possible. I want to help build confidence in others to set the bar high, work hard, and focus on doing the little things every single day. Our very own bodybuilder, turned Strongman, turned CrossFitter, turned hybrid Strongman/CrossFitter, Seth! He is a CrossFit, CrossFit Light and Strongman Coach.I’m Seth, originally from Michigan. My fitness journey started out at an early age with wanting to excel at sports. I competed in football, wrestling, and baseball. I’ve been working out now for 19 years. After high school, I wanted to maintain a competitive lifestyle which led me to bodybuilding for a short amount of time, and then my first go-around with strongman. I moved down to North Carolina and got into CrossFit in 2013. I fell in love with the sport and how CrossFit’s methods can train the body. I’ve been coaching at MCCF since 2016. Through training and coaching at MCCF, I’ve qualified and competed at Strongman Corporation Nationals and World’s Strongest Man: Official Strongman Games. I went to school and have an associates in Emergency sciences and I’m a certified EMT-P. I then became an RCIS where I work in the cath lab and assist with the procedures. I enjoy coaching and hope that I can change lives for the better and keep people out of the procedure room.
